The Illumina HiSeq 2500 system enables both Rapid and High Output sequencing for multiple applications, after an upgrade from the initial HiSeq2000 system.
The HiSeq2500 sequencing system is the first powersystem of the Illumina sequencing systems leading to high quality data. The sequencer makes use of the sequencing-by-synthesis (SBS) chemistry used by all NGS systems. With a massive daily throughput of 160 Gb per day or 1 Tb per run, more samples can be simultaneously sequenced at a greater depth, producing more meaningful data. The system is perfect for projects with large genome sizes or studies with hundreds of samples. With the flexible Rapid or High output modus and single or dual read options, the HiSeq2500 can have an output from 10 Gb to 1 Tb or 300 million to 4 billion reads per run. The rapid modus leverages on-board cluster generation and reduces the cycle time. The automated clustering and sequencing for short read applications can be completed in 7 hours.
